Do you suffer from cold sores?
Patients that have a history of cold sores must let their provider know before their scheduled appointment for any filler treatment that may be in or around the lip area.
That doesn’t mean that you can’t have dermal filler treatment if you have a history of cold sores.
Simply keep these two things in mind:
– DO NOT have a dermal filler treatment if you have an active cold sore
– Be sure to take a prophylactic dose of an anti-viral medication before the treatment to significantly reduce the chances of having an outbreak after the procedure.
– Even if you haven’t had an outbreak in a very long time, please let your provider know ahead of time so they can prescribe the antiviral medication before the treatment.
